When I first visited Estonia in 2012, Silver had recently felled trees with plans to build a house. This year the logs were uncovered to start building, and Maarja, Grandfather and I were there to help lift the first logs into place.

The sunshine was broken with sporadic bouts of snow, but with such heavy lifting I was happy its was cold.

We first dragged the logs into position using Kulgur, and then using Kang (Big iron bars) we levered the logs up ramps onto the tire foundation.

Its truly amazing what you can do with 4 people and some levers, it was still hard work though.

Taavi and Peeter arrived on the third day to help roll up the cross beams, and now the groud floor structure is waiting for quite a lot of joints to be cut before the first columns are raised.
